Due to the closure more than eight lakhs of employees directly employed in various industries of crackers manufacturing units and more than one crore of people indirectly employed will loose their livelihood.
The decision to close down all the manufacturing units in Sivakasi was taken up after the manufacturers had jointly organised a seminar and discussed about the strict rules of the Supreme Court.
