70,000 to receive degrees at Annamalai Varsity’s 82nd Convocation

Chidambaram, Nov 19:
Tamil Nadu Governor and Chancellor of Annamalai University will distribute degrees to as many as 69,269 students at the 82nd convocation to be held on Nov.25, Sunday, at the Shastri Audirorium, said the university’s Vice Chancellor V.Murugesan.
The VC said that the Governor would distribute Doctorates to 277 students for their research works and also gold medals to 45 meritorious students who have passed out with flying colours of marks and were placed in the list of toppers.
For the 63,357 students who had completed their degree courses through the Distance Education of the University, the degrees would be dispatched through the Postal Services, said Murugesan.
The Central Government had allocated a total sum of Rs 2.34 crores for the establishment of a Entreprenuer Center. The proposed center would give skill-development training to the students who wanted to become entrepreneurs and also would arrange loans for them to start their own industries, said Murugesan.
At the Asian-level the University had placed in the rank between 291 and 300, at the BRICS Ranking level the University had been holding 174th rank, said the VC.
The University also ranks 43 rd position among the 766 Universities in India, the Chancellor said. The University’s Registrar K.Arumugam and PRO Kalidoss were present when the Vice Chancellor spoke to media persons.
