It is well known that Bãhubali filmmaker SS Rajamouli is making a film with Ram Charan and Jr NTR titled RRR. Now, the makers have revealed that they have roped in Alia Bhatt to play one of the female leads in the film, which will be a fictitious story based on legendary freedom fighters Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem. While Jr NTR has been cast in the role of the former, Ram Charan will play the latter. The two actors had attended extensive workshops to prepare for their roles.
The director revealed that he was inspired to make this film after he saw The Motorcycle Diaries, which narrates a period in the life of Che Guevara and his friend Alberto Granado.
Alia plays a character called Sita, and is paired opposite Ram Charan. “I met her at the airport by chance and pitched the story to her, she agreed immediately. She is excited about the character she’s playing,” revealed Rajamouli. This marks Alia’s debut in the south film industry. “Today I feel truly truly grateful.. Cannot wait to begin this beautiful journey with this stellar cast and massive team.. thank you @ssrajamouli sir for giving me this opportunity to be directed by you,” the actress tweeted.
Daisy Edgar Jones, a British actress, will be seen as NTR Jr’s love interest. Rajamouli also revealed the Bollywood actor Ajay Devgnhas agreed to play a powerful character which will appear in the flashback portion in the film. The multi-starrer also has Samuthirakani in its cast, and the director described his role as “the backbone of the film”.
The team has completed two schedules of the film and will kick-start the next leg of shoot from this month end. They will shoot in Pune and Ahmedabad during this schedule. Rajamouli informed that the shoot of the film, which will have extensive visual effects to recreate the India of the 1920s, will be wrapped up by December or January. The team announced that the film will hit screens on July 30, 2020, and will be released in 10 Indian languages, including Tamil.
