Actor, academician and animal rights activist Amala Akkineni is awaiting the release of her digital debut ‘High Priestess’ on the Zee5 platform on April 25. It is said to be a supernatural thriller spanning eight episodes.

was released recently, and with this web series, actor Krishna, who was last seen in Maari 2, forays into production.
On speaking about the series Krishna said that “It was a pleasure knowing Amala ma’am, and this role will unearth the never-seen-before side of hers. The digital platform is the future, as it gives us an opportunity to support creative content with no compromise in quality. Collaborating with an artiste of her calibre is a blessing. She is extremely grounded, punctual, systematic, friendly and above all, a no-nonsense actor.”
On speaking about the series Amala said that “It’s been an exciting assignment and exploring a new medium always awakens the child in you. Besides being a performer, I have been an explorer and adventurer by nature all my life,” She also feels that the digital medium presents the best of film and television worlds and breaks free from many barriers and conventions in terms of freedom and scope”. “I spent a day or two with most of these actors. It’s nice to work with the younger generation of artistes with whom I haven’t worked before. It was good to know how cued in, comfortable and successful they are as professionals. The industry has come a long way and it’s reassuring to see young and talented women taking an active part in the filmmaking process,” she adds.
High Priestess, produced by Krishna under his banner Tribal Horse Entertainment, will stream from April 25 onwards on Zee5. The web series also features Kishore, Sunainaa, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Vijayalakshmi and Aadhav Kannadasan in important roles.
