The Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Sindhubaadh, which was slated to hit last Friday, had to postpone its release at the last moment due to a legal dispute involving its producer SN Rajarajan and Arka Mediaworks, the production house behind the Baahubali movies. Arka Mediaworks had obtained a stay on the release of the film in the Hyderabad High Court over money that Rajarajan of K Productions owed to them for distributing Baahubali: The Conclusion in Tamil Nadu.
Now, after mediation, the production house has decided to give an okay to the release of the film as a goodwill gesture. In a statement, Shobu Yarlagadda of Arka Mediaworks, says, “We, M/s Arka Mediaworks Entertainment LLP state that upon discussions held with various parties and upon the interests of various third-parties being gravely affected and out of the goodwill.
we have in the market, we hereby agree to issue a no-objection certificate for release of the movie Sindhubaadh, starring Vijay Sethupathi and directed by Arun Kumar. This decision is taken owing to some sincere requests made by various third-parties and for the benefit of the said third-parties with whom M/s Arka Mediaworks Entertainment LLP has a long-standing association.”
This should come as relief to the artistes and technical crew involved in the film. Sindhubaadh will not hit screens tomorrow (June 27).
However, Shobu also adds that they will continue to fight their claims in court, and will hold Rajarajan’s other movie accountable until he settles the unpaid dues. “This is without prejudice to our rights and claims against Mr. S.N. Rajarajan and M/s K. Productions on the amounts due to Arka Mediaworks Entertainment LLP from the aforesaid. We reserve our right to proceed against Mr. S.N. Rajarajan and M/s K. Productions individually and collectively and will continue to have a lawful lien over all the other movies and assets of Mr. S.N. Rajarajan and M/s K. Productions including but not limited to Enai Nokki Paayum Thota starring Dhanush and Megha Akash, Madithiranthu starring Rana Daggubati and Regina Cassandra and any other movie currently being produced or to be produced by M/s K. Productions and Mr S.N. Rajarajan,” states Shobu.
