Beirut blast claims 70, Modi, world leaders express shock

A massive explosion rocked Beirut on Tuesday, flattening much of the city’s port, damaging buildings across the capital and sending a giant mushroom cloud into the sky. More than 70 people were killed and 3,000 injured, with bodies buried in the rubble, officials said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump and other world leaders expressed shock at the loss of lives in a massive explosion that rocked Beirut.“Shocked and saddened by the large explosion in Beirut city leading to loss of life and property. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and the injured,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a tweet quoting Modi.
