Vijay starrer ‘Bigil’ is setting new records at the box office and has emerged as one of the most popular Tamil films. According to the latest report on BoxofficeIndia.com, Vijay’s ‘Bigil’ has grossed Rs 135 crore in Tamil Nadu and is crowned as the highest-grossing Tamil film in the state. ‘Bigil’ has surpassed Thala Ajith’s ‘Viswasam’, which had a gross collection of Rs 132 crore in the state and had released along with Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’ this year. However, ‘Bigil’ has not managed to beat the collection of ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ in Tamil Nadu, which was released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
‘Bigil’ has earned more than Rs 300 crore worldwide and emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2019. The film, which hit the screens during the festive occasion of Diwali, still holds a good number of screens in its fifth week at the box office.
‘Bigil’ is the story of a former football player who fights to fulfill his dream and seeks revenge for his father’s death. Vijay and Nayanthara play the leads in the film which also features Jackie Shroff, Daniel Balaji, Varsha Bollamma, Induja Ravichandran, Yogi Babu and Amritha Aiyer in significant roles. The sports-drama is directed by Atlee and produced by AGS Entertainments and the music is composed by AR Rahman.
