Dhanush to portray as Karnan

Karnan is a Tamil movie directed by Mari Selvaraj, starring Dhanush, Yogi Babu, Lal, Rajisha Vijayan and others. The poster of the movie is out, that shows a sword piercing into the red sky which may stand for resistance. The name Karnan originates from Indian epic Mahabharata; the story has inspired songs, books and movies. In the past, Sivaji Ganesan and Rajinikanth have played the character of Karnan in movies. The role of Karnan in Mahabharata was denied his place in the family and shunned due to social circumstances. Sadly, throughout his life, he faced injustice and cold conduct by others. Dhanush played a Dalit man fighting for justice for his family in Asuran in his previous movie, which was one of the biggest hits in his career. The director, Mari Selvaraj, is one of the few Tamil directors who are vocal about casteism and narrates stories about oppressed. Mari Selvaraj mentioned in one of his interviews, “Filmmakers are not required to repeat past real-life incidents, magazines and newspapers are more than enough. Karnan will talk about people from a humble background. It is a fictional film based on stories I have heard in my life. Unlike the mythological Karnan, my protagonist will fight and get back his right.”
