Govt extends validity of vehicle documents till July 31

The government on Sunday extended the validity of payments made for obtaining documents like vehicle fitness certificate, driving license, on or after February 1, to July 31.

Additionally, if there is delay in paying the fees from 1st Feb till the period of lock down, there would not be any additional or late fee that will be charged for such delays till 31st July, the ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) said in a statement.

“It has come to the notice of the government that citizens are facing difficulties in respect of various fees or late fees as mandated under rule 32 and 81 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 due to lock down in the country and closure of government transport offices,” the statement said.

Documents under the said rules relate to national and international driving license, vehicle fitness certificate, registration fee, among others.
