Kamal completes an important milestone in his journey in the film industry this year. Born on November 7, 1954, Kamal Haasan made his debut as a child artiste in 1959 in ‘Kalathoor Kannamma’ which released on 12 August 1959 and also fetched him the best child artist award. While Gemini Ganesan and Savitri played lead roles, Kamal featured as a child artist and had even sung a popular song Ammavum Neeye Appavum Neeye in it.
In his six-decade-long career he has acted in more than 150 films in different Indian languages, directed movies and won several awards. The actor has won four national awards and a record 19 Filmfare Awards – ranging across five languages.
