The Tamil version of Kabir Khan’s Ranveer Singh-starrer 83, which revisits the Indian cricket’s team’s iconic win at the 1983 World Cup tournament, will be distributed by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films. The prominent Tamil screen icon announced this news on Twitter on Thursday.
The actor will be presenting the film in the state in association with Y NOT Studios. Kamal expressed his elation in a press note, adding, “I am extremely excited to present the Tamil Version of 83. It’s a matter of pride to promote the film that will recreate the moments of the iconic matches. Not just that, the victory of the Indian team demonstrates to every Indian that where there is a will, there is a way. What was considered impossible was made possible purely due to belief and conviction. And this holds true in all walks of life. It’s my pride to promote a film that stands testimony to such conviction and will. I am happy to bring to my people the story of the team of inspired men captained by Kapil Dev who fought against all odds and won India’s greatest sporting triumph.”
Kabir Khan added that 83” will find an exceedingly bigger release for its Tamil version,” in the press note. The sports film, which stars Ranvir Singh as Kapil Dev, Jiiva as Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar and Harrdy Sandhu as Madan Lal. The film also stars Deepika Padukone as Romi Bhatia, Kapil Dev’s wife. 83 is slated to be released on April 10 in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.
