New Delhi, Dec.21:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tamil Nadu on January 27 as part of his Lok Sabha poll campaign all over the country.He will address public meetings in Chennai and most likely in Vellore or Coimbatore. He is scheduled to address 100 campaign meetings all over the country.
His visit assumes significance as the Tamil Nadu government has been pressing for speedy sanction of Central aid to Gaja cyclone victims. There has been considerable delay in release of funds from the Centre despite Chief Minister Edapadi Palaniswami making an appeal in person and through letter for urgent release of Rs.1500 crore aid initially and Rs.15000 crores as total package of relief for the State. Governor also had a meeting with the Prime Minister recently. Opposition parties were also pressing the Centre for early release of cyclone aid.
Expectations were high when the Central team visited the cyclone -hit areas of the State. Meanwhile the team has sought additional inputs from the State on the cyclone damages which a team of officials had submitted in Delhi very recently.
As part of his tour itenerary Modi is also due to visit Trichur and take part in three Lok Sabha poll campaign meetings.The first meeting will be held in Pathanamthitta on January 6.Venue of the meeting is yet to be decided.
The meeting comes in the backdrop of tension in Sabarimala over the Supreme Court judgement permitting entry of women of all ages in Sabarimala for dharshan.
