Food Minister Kamaraj assured in the Assembly during question hour today that supply of rice to BPL card-holders will be continued.In the whole country on Tamilnadu government treading the path laid down by Jayalalithaa has been spending as much as Rs.6000 crores for food subsidy. The state government has also been implementing the national food security plan, he pointed out.
Replying to a query by Alangulam member Poonkothai who sought a ration shop for Arunaperi village in Alangulam constituency the minister said already a part- time ration shops has been functioning there for 181 card-holders if a full fledged shop has to be set up the area should have at least 500 to 800 card-holders.
However the member’s request will be examined as and when it was found feasible.
Thuraiyur constituency member Stalin Kumar wanted a government arts and science college in Thuraiyur to which Higher education minister Anbalagan turned down as already 31 colleges in and around Thuraiyur has been functioning. Even in some of the colleges the intake was not full. He pointed that Edapadi government was never wanted in opening colleges and promoting high education which can understood from the facts Tamil Nadu has commended for being top rank in higher education.
