A popular hill station at an altitude of 2,047 ft above sea level, Lonavala is a romantic escape from the chaotic noise of city life. Bushi Dam

Located a few kilometers away from Lonavala railway station, Bhushi Dam is among the best weekend getaway for the tourists as well as the locals. Engulfed by the carpeted hills, the forcing water of the dam makes a huge natural water park that rejuvenates the visitors. The view of the Bhushi Dam water, when overflows over an array of steps and then pass through the rocky terrain, is really mesmerising. The kiosks of tea, pakoras and other tasty tidbits have been developed around to delight the amazing crowd of visitors.

Bhaja Caves

The Bhaja Caves are a medley of rock-cut 22 caves located near Lonavala in Pune, Maharashtra. These caves are located about 400 ft. above the Bhaja Village. It is located on the vital trading route from Arabian Sea to Deccan. These caves have stupas, which is one of their vital features. The caves comprise of the chaityagrihas(temples) and the viharas(a monastery for Buddhist renunciates).

Shrivardhan Fort

Apart from a huge defensive wall that was built to strengthen the place against attack, there is no further construction there. But the uphill view is completely breathtaking and awe inspiring. It is located 9 km from Lonavala at Rajmachi Village in the Sahyadris mountain range, at a height of 900 m above sea level, thus might have used as the watch point for that region. The place is home for many different species of birds because of immense greenery here, and an attractive spot of visit for the tourists and trekkers. The beauty of this place is unmatchable during monsoon when it gets entirely blurry with fog.

Camping at Lonavala

Trekkers can set up their camps near the Kalbhairavnath Temple and if you wish to camp overnight then do carry ample amount of food with you. You will also get chicken and chutney from the nearby village. The camping session will spice up your tour and you will gather a lifetime memory. There are several caves and monuments which can be explored in the fort.

Have a picnic at Ryewood park

Lounging over 25 acres of manicured land, the park provides extensive green lawns, that are equipped with swings where the children can play and have fun. Hence it is an ideal visiting spot for the tourists as well as for the local people, to sit on the clean wooden benches, stroll around the tall trees and relax with the near and dear once. Apart from the varieties of trees and flowering plants, the park also has an old Shiva Temple within its premises.
