Santhanam’s next, Dagaalty, directed by Vijay Anand, will have the actor playing a man who hails from Mumbai. Billed as a fast-paced action-comedy, the movie, which has travel as one of its elements, has completed over 70 per cent of its production.
Vijay avers that the film will be different from the previous flicks which had Santhanam in the lead role. He says, “It is not an out-and-out comedy movie it has comedy, though. His characterisation, that of a tricky guy, has been interestingly sketched. He essays a Tamil guy who is settled in Mumbai.”
He adds, “Dagaalty has been shot in Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Andhra Pradesh, Ambasamudram and Tiruchendur, among other locations. Bengali heroine Ritika Sen is making her south debut with this film; she will be seen as a south Indian girl.”
Stunt Silva has choreographed the action sequences, some of which, according to the director, will remind audience of the kind of stunts that Jackie Chan is known for. “There are no action scenes where the baddies fly off after getting hit by the hero. It will be thoroughly entertaining with some humour elements,” he adds. Deepak Kumar Padhy is cranking the camera for the project, which has TS Suresh handling the editing and Shobi helming the dance choreography.
