Chief Minister Edapadi K.Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O.Paneerselvam today condoled the death of the Sulur Assembly constituency MLA R.Kanagaraj.
His death was irreparable loss to the party, the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister in their condolence message have said. They have also prayed for the soul to rest in peace. Wreaths were placed on the body of the deceased by party functionaries who have also conveyed their personal sympathies to the family.
Sulur Assembly Constituency AIADMK MLA R.Kanagaraj today passed away at his residence due to cardiac arrest. He was 64.
According to his family members, the MLA was reading newspapers. The body of the MLA has been kept at his residence in Sultanpettai.
Kanagaraj was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2016 from the Sulur constituency, defeating Congress candidate Manoharan with a margin of over 35,000 votes.
Kanagaraj is survived by his wife Rathinam, Son Shanmugasundaram and daughter Bamavijaya.
With the passing away of Kanagaraj, the total number of vacancies in the Tamil Nadu Assembly rose to 22 when the TN State had been conducting bye-poll elections for the 18 assembly seats as well for the 40 parliamentary seats.
