Thuppakki Munai is an action thriller starring Vikram Prabhu in the lead. The film has been written and directed by Dinesh Selvaraj.Birla Bose (Vikram Prabhu) is an encounter specialist in Mumbai who successfully executes more than thirty criminals in his career. Due to his job, Bose’s mother and lover Mythili (Hansika) leave him and even he gets suspended. But in order to encounter a Maoist Azad (Mirch Shiva) who allegedly raped a 15-year-old innocent girl Manjal, the department seeks his help.
So Bose travels to Rameshwaram. During his investigation, Bose finds that Azad is innocent and the real criminals are hidden by an influential gangster, businessman and politician (Vela Ramamoorthy). How Bose who believes that every bullet in his gun has the name of criminals who are deserved to die, saves the life of convicted innocent forms the crux of the story….
The plot and the circumstances are cliched and gives you a sense of deja vu, but it is the slick packaging and presentation that makes
Thuppakki Munai an engrossing watch. Except for the forced romantic scenes in the beginning and the preachy dialogues of MS Baskar in the climax, the director has been able to present an edge-of-the-seat thriller.
Vikram Prabhu shines as the encounter specialist. There is no unwanted heroism and it’s good to see him accepting such script-driven characters. Vela Ramamoorthy is menacing and MS Baskar has once again proved his versatility.
