TN bans installing Vinayaka idols, immersion processions

Chennai, Aug 13:

Vinayaka Chaturthi in Tamil Nadu will be a very sober celebrations as lockdown is in place to contain the spread of COVID-19 .

Tamil Nadu government has banned installing Vinayaka idols and also assembling for Vinayaka Chaturthi processions for immersion in the wake of COVID-19.

Many small temples in city are allowed to open following relaxation in lockdon in Tamilnadu, but government has requisted the devotees not to throng temples in large numbers and strictly adhere to social distancing norms and wearing masks.

Asking people to follow safety protocols that include use of mask or shield, hand sanitizers and social distancing norms to Tamil Nadu government has appealed to people to refrain from doing any act that will lead to the spread of COVID-19 particularly not to crowd in market places to buy pooja items required for Vinayaka Chaturthi poojas at home.
