Chief Minister Edapadi Palaniswami today declared open by video conference Rs.26 crores worth of government colleges and university buildings across 12 districts in the State.
The infra boost will keep government on top rank in the expansion of higher education facilities for students. In the last seven years government has opened 56 arts colleges, 19 multi-speciality engineering colleges were opened and in 2018-19 alone 61 arts and science colleges and 216 new courses were introduced.
The new buildings opened by the Chief Minister were:
Airyalur:Fifteen new class rooms in Government Arts College, one English development centre,, 4 integrated research buildings plus toilets all at a cost of Rs.4.23 crores.
Coimbatore: At Bharathiyar University buildings worth Rs.5.90 crores for expanded facilities plus DNS and biotech department.
Karur:At Government arts college 9 golden jubilee class rooms built at a cost of Rs.1.5 crores.
Dharmapuri: At Kariamangalam government women’s college 10 more class rooms.
Tiruvannamalai: At Cheyyar 5 class rooms in the Arignar Anna Government Arts College built at a cost of Rs.1.37 crores.
Chennai:At Saidapet Government Teachers Training centre 4 classrooms for Rs.70 lakhs, at Bharathi Women’s College 2 class rooms worth for Rs.87.8 lakhs, at Kaith-e- Milleth Government Womens college 4 class rooms and multi-facility rooms and libraries worth Rs.1.4 crores.
Chengalpet: Rajarajaeswari Government Arts College 8 class rooms worth Rs.1.25 crores.
Namakkal:At Komarapalayam Government Arts College Rs.69 lakhs worth auditorium, at Kavingyar Ramalingam Government Arts College Rs.70 lakhs worth five class rooms and at Rasipuram’s Tiruvallur Government Arts College Rs.70 lakhs worth science labs.
Cuddalore:At Vriddhachalam Koiligiyappar Government Arts College five class rooms worth Rs.70 lakhs.
Tirupur: At Kangeyam Government Arts College woemns hostel worth Rs.1.24 crores, at Chikkana Government Art College five class rooms worth Rs.1.70 crores.
Tuticorin: At Ettayapuram Bhatathiyar Centenary Government Engineering College for Women meals centre worth Rs.70 lakhs.
Higher Education Minister K.P.Anbalagan, Government Chief Whip S.Rajendran, Chief Secretary Girija Vaidhyanathan, Higher Education Principal Secretary Mangat Ram, Education Director Charumathi and othere officials were present on the occasion.
