Chennai, Sept 18:
Minister for Transport M.R.Vijayabasker accompanied by PWC Davidar, Additional Chief Secretary Transport, visited the Transport for London facilities at London to understand how the Electric Bus transport is organised.
The visit was arranged by Anelise Rosa and Anna Peiris of the C-40 Transport group in London. They visited the Transport for London (TFL) office and met with Tom Cunnington, Head of Bus Business development. They were briefed on the current status of the Clean Bus Initiative and the varied administrative nuances of the roll-out.
Following this, the team had detailed discussions with Mike Weston, Traffic Consultant who played a key role on the initial steps taken by TFL towards the setting up of the Electric Bus depot along with Simon and Gunjan strategy leaders from C 40.
Thereafter, the team visited the Electric Bus depot at Waterloo and were fully briefed by the ‘Go Ahead’ Engineering Director, Richard Harrington. They inspected the entire depot and were given practical insights to the working of electric bus operations. The visit helped to determine the broad foundation and arrangements needed to be set in place prior to the introduction of bus services in Chennai.
The visit concluded with a meeting with Transport related businesses coordinated by Prem Barthasarathy, Partner, Pontaq held at the Indian High Commission in London.
