Washington, Apr 1:
The total US death toll from the coronavirus pandemic topped 4,000 early Wednesday, more than double the number from three days earlier, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
The number of deaths was 4,076 — more than twice the 2,010 recorded late Saturday, Johns Hopkins data showed. The US tops the list of the Covid-19 affected nations worldwide, with more than 174,000 confirmed cases.
The situation in China — which was hit by the deadly pandemic first — has greatly improved in recent weeks, according to official figures. The country has less than 3,000 active cases, while its total number of people infected by the virus stands at around 82,200.
