Kamal Haasan’s dream project is ‘Marudhanayagam’, was in the news recently after Kamal Haasan recently opened up about the film which was launched in 1997, but was put in cold storage several years ago owing to financial crises. The Ulaganayagan revealed that he is excited to bring out the movie, but someone else might acting in it instead of him. With this, reports have emerged that Raj Kamal Films has approached Chiyaan Vikram to play the title role of ‘Marudhanayagam’.
Vikram has worked in ‘Kadaram Kondan’ produced by Kamal Haasan’s production house Raj Kamal Films International. The buzz is that during the making of ‘Kadaram Kondan’ talks began for this project and the project could take off by the middle of 2021 once Vikram completes his other commitments. Vikram is currently shooting for ‘Vikram 58’ directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu and is will next move on to Mani Ratnam’s historical multistarrer ‘Ponniyin Selvan’.
‘Marudhanayagam’ is period film, which revolves around the life of the 18th century warrior Mohammad Yusuf Khan, was expected to release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English. Though the film kick-started in 1997, it was shelved due to various reasons. A poster of Marudhanayagam displayed with Sundar C’s Sangamithra at the Cannes 2017, had fueled speculations that superstar Kamal Haasan has revived his dream project.
With Kamal Haasan’s recent comments, the fans are eagerly waiting for some good news on ‘Marudhanayagam’.
