Making heads turn are three girls from Panruti, a town known for jack fruit and cashew cultivation, who cleared the civil services bringing glory to the coastal district of Cuddalore usually in the news for floods, cyclones and sea erosions. And it’s indeed a record of the sorts for the district to have three girls from the same town showing their prowess at the UPSC.
For R Aishwarya of Marungur, a BE grad from Anna University, this is her second attempt since she couldn’t make it to IAS as she was ranked 630 in All India Rank last year and now serves as Indian Railway Personnel Service (IPRS) officer in Vadodara, Gujarat. Without giving up, she made a try and clocked 47 All India Rank to become an IAS which is close to her heart. Interestingly, she is the second topper in Tamil Nadu.
Toeing Aishwarya, twenty five year old S Priyanka, a native of Bandarakottai also a BE biomedical grad from Anna University cleared her dream civil services in the second attempt with 68 All India Rank. Her dad is a health inspector while her mom Parimala is a postmaster. “In the first attempt, I missed in the interview as I was quite nervous, but this time I had a smooth sail as most of the questions were related to my place and my biodata, “she said adding that writing letters to the editor was her passion right from her school and college days.
Since both her dad and mom were government servants, she said that they wanted her to get a government job. But, she wanted to make it big as she had a positive attitude to achieve her goal. More than hard work, she said that smart work is more important to crack civil services or any competitive exams. Try, try until you succeed is the mantra for her success. Likewise, S Krishnapriya of Pudupet cleared civil services with 514 All India Rank. No gainsaying the fact that the trio’s success in civil services has created ripples in their home town Panruti more particularly in Cuddalore district.
