Jayalalithaa to inaugurate Airport-Little Mount Metro Rail Services


Chennai, Sept 20:
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa will inaugurate the Airport-Little Mount Metro Rail Service tomorrow and declare open the Metro Rail Stations at Airport, Meenambakkam, Nanganallur road, Guindy, Little Mount and St. Thomas Mount through video conferencing.
M.Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information and Broadcasting and Pon Radhakrishnan, Union Minister for State for Road, Transport, Highways and Shipping will present at the inauguration ceremony.
The Airport-Little Mount line will cover a distance of 8.6 kms and it will have six                        stations. It is expected to bring down the travelling time and traffic congestion on the arterial Anna Salai and GST Roads.
It may be recalled that last year, Jayalalithaa flagged off the maiden Metro Rail service of the city, between Alandur and Koyambedu.
Other officials who are set to attend tomorrow’s event include secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, Rajiv Gauba, Chief Secretary to Tamil Nadu government, P Rama Mohana Rao, Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail Ltd, Pankaj Kumar Bansal and Principal Secretary to Government in Planning, Development and Special Initatives Department,               S Krishnan.
