Chief Minister Edapadi K.Palansiwami will inaugurate the country chicken development plan on January 10, Animal Husbandry Minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan told the Assembly today. The Chief Minister had under Rule 110 announced in the Assembly that country chicken rearing will be encouraged in a big way and that each of the 77000 women will be given 50 chicken and will be supplied Rs.2500 worth pen for rearing them. Government has allotted Rs.50 crores of the project which while promoting the native breed will also raise income of the village women. He further said under the milch cow supply plan 75448 women were given milch cow and 72152 rural women were given sheep. As a result of the above schemes the standard of living of the rural women has gone up .
Bargur constituency member asked whether government will come forward to open a cattle welfare centre in Ampally village. The minister there was a possibility for the same as the village has more than the required norm of 300o cattle and had 4852 cattle.
Government will on principle take the request into consideration if it satisfies other parameters for the plan, he added.
