Akkarai Sisters, S Subhalakshmi and S Sornalatha gave a scintillating vocal recital on the fourth day of the Trinity Arts festival at the Rasika Ranjani Sabha.
Akkarai Sisters rendering with maturity and bava showed that they have grown into senior artistes. Hailing from a family with a rich musical background and having learnt under illustrious gurus, they are sought after worldwide for their violin and vocal duets, as well as for their violin accompaniment for many an eminent artiste.
They commenced the katcheri with gusto in Vanajashi in Kalyani , which virtually mesmerized the audience. The audience were enthralled as the musicians expditiously got into Brochevarevare in Sriranjani ragam, followed by Edayya gati , Ardhanaareeshwaram , Paarvathi Naayakane , Kalai amudham undu, Nambikettavar, Karpagame Kan paarai. When the musicians ended with Pavamaana, the audience auditorium reverberated with applause all round. They were at their best in Ardhanaareeshwaram and Paarvati Naayakanae .They were ably accompanied by P.U.Ganesh Parasad on the violin, Saigiridar on the mridangam and Dr.Karthik on the gatam.
The Convenor of the festival, Murali Raghavan while honouring the musicians mentioned that Akkarai sisters have gained a prestigious place among the senior artists which was welcomed well by the audience too.
