Tamil Nadu government has decided to extend Rs. 20 lakh solatium and other aid benefits to Coast Guard martyrs and those injured policemen from the State also as done to Tamil jawans killed on border.
Issuing the order Principal Secretary P.Senthilkumar has said government sympathetically has considered a request letter from the Tamil Nadu Coast Guard Commander that the solatium benefits and aid for injures should e extended to Coast Guard men also as they were equally engaged in risky maritime operations on coastal waters in sea. He stated that for martyrs Rs. 20 lakhs solatium will be given, Rs.15 lakhs to the fully disabled and Rs.10 lakhs to partially disabled.
During launching of the scheme for jawans Tamil Nadu government offered a solatium of Rs.5 lakhs, for fully disabled Rs.3 lakhs and partially disabled one lakhs. Subsequently it was raised to Rs.10 lakhs, Rs.7 lakhs and Rs.5 lakhs, respectively. In 2016 it was further raised to Rs.20 lakhs, Rs.15 lakhs and Rs.10 lakhs, respectively he added.
