TN stands by CM for total state wide Sunday lockdown

Chennai, July 13:

The total Sunday lockdown announced by the Tamil Nadu Government headed by Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisami to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic was a complete success yesterday in Tamil Nadu.

All commercial establishments, offices, business enterprises and other commercial activities were shut down for the day. Apart for containment zones were red alert is issued, people throughout the State voluntarily observed the total lockdown as the awareness on virus is quite high.

Today was the second Sunday lockdown after the Government declared total lockdown across the State on all Sundays in the month of July . State had suspended all bus services for the day and autos, taxis, cabs and other modes of public transport too were off the roads.

Barring hospitals, medical shops, milk parlours and such other essential service shops, all other commercial activities took a holiday.

As regulatory measure , the police had erected barricades in many arterial points to stop vehicular movements and usage of empty roads by pedestrians.

The entry and exit to various red zones were also strictly enforced.
