Director : Blessy
Cast : Prithviraj, Amala Paul, Jimmy Jean-Louis, K.R.Gokul
‘Aadujeevitham’ directed by Blessy is a real-life incident of an Indian migrant worker, Najeeb
Muhammad, who goes to Saudi Arabia to earn money. However, in a twist of fate, he finds himself living
a slave-like existence, herding goats in the middle of the desert.
Prithviraj Sukumaran’s much-anticipated project, Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) promises a unique
cinematic experience. The story based on the best-selling Malayalam novel Aadujeevitham and directed
by Blessy, finally graces the screens today.
Najeeb (Prithviraj Sukumaran) and his companion (KR Gokul) find themselves in Saudi Arabia for work,
facing language barriers and vulnerability. Exploited by their sponsor, Khafeel (Talib Al Balushi), Najeeb is
assigned the role of a goatherd in a remote desert farm, separated from Hakeem. The narrative unfolds
around Najeeb’s struggle for survival amidst harsh conditions.
Prithviraj Sukumaran deserves applause for his daring choice of roles and exceptional performance as
Najeeb. His portrayal breathes life into the character, showcasing vulnerability and resilience with
conviction. The film’s visual and auditory elements, particularly the desert visuals and background score,
contribute significantly to its immersive experience.
The sandstorm sequence is a highlight, adding intensity to the narrative. AR Rahman’s background score
complements the visuals effectively, enhancing the emotional impact of key sequences.
Cinematographer Sunil KS. captures the essence of Najeeb’s plight, while the editing could have been
tighter, especially in the first half.
Blessy’s direction delves into the protagonist’s journey with depth, albeit hindered by pacing issues and
excessive length. The Goat Life is a genuine attempt to portray a real-life survival story, anchored by
Prithviraj Sukumaran’s remarkable performance and impressive technical aspects.
