BJP drops 100 sitting MPs shows their incompetence, says Cong

Tiruvandrum, Apr 17

The replacement of 100 sitting MPs with new faces by the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections shows that the saffron party is not strong enough to fight with the INDIA bloc, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the Congress leader said there is no wave of support for the BJP or Modi in the country.

The replacement of a large number of sitting MPs with new faces shows that the BJP was not ready to face the elections with the sitting MPs, he added.

The Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister was in the capital city to attend an election rally as part of the party’s campaign for UDF candidate Dr Shashi Tharoor.

Claiming that the INDIA block will form the government at the center, he thanked people in Kerala for supporting Rahil Gandhi in Wayanad

No party flags will be used for Rahul Gandhi’s election campaign in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, KPCC acting chief M.M. Hassan said here

Hassan, who is also the United Democratic Front (UDF) convener, said that a decision has been taken not to use any flags of the Congress or its allies during the poll campaign of Gandhi next week in the constituency. UDF convener said that there is no need to communicate to the media the reasons behind the party’s decision.

While the CPI(M) had alleged that the flags were not used as the Congress was scared of the BJP, the saffron party had claimed it was because Gandhi was ashamed of the IUML and asked him to reject its support.

The Congress had hit back by saying that the CPI(M) and the BJP have become close friends and had asserted that it does not need any classes from anyone on how to carry out a poll campaign.
