Cong leaders flay undemocratic; Modi Govt Anti-BJP rhetoric focus of Foundation Day rally

Nagpur, Dec 29:

Coming down heavily on the BJP-led central government, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge said on Thursday that currently, democracy and the Constitution are under threat in the country and hence, time has come to teach a lesson to both BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not supporting democracy.

Addressing a rally on occasion of the party’s 139th foundation day atBharat Jodo Maidan here, he said that during the BJP rule, inflation and unemployment have risen tremendously.

Even though there are 32 lakh posts vacant in the central government, the Modi government does not want to fill these posts so that the backward classes will get a chance, he said.

Targetting Modi, the Congress chief alleged that the Prime Minister has time to travel around the world but he had no time to attend parliament while in session.

“It is a mockery of democracy to pass laws by suspending 146 MPs of Opposition parties, who asked questions in parliament,” he noted.

The Modi government has saddled the country with a debt of Rs 200 lakh crore, but the funds for welfare schemes are cut and no scholarships are given to students from backward communities, he charged.

Also, atrocities against Dalits have increased during the Modi government, he continued.

If BJP is not stopped, the country will be ruined and the Constitution will be destroyed, he added.

Kharge made an appeal to people to teach a lesson to both Modi and BJP, who do not support democracy

Former Congress president and MP Rahul Gandhi also launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre, accusing it of capturing all the systems since coming to power including media, Election Commission and judiciary.

He said that after coming to power, the Modi government had promised to provide two crore jobs every year, but he has not delivered on it.

“How many people did the Modi Government provide jobs in last 10 years?” He questioned.

The country today has the highest unemployment rate in last 40 years, he said and pointed that millions of youths are wasting their energy due to lack of jobs.

On one hand, farmers and youths are in trouble, on other hand, the wealth of the country is being distributed among a handful of industrialists, the Congress leader alleged.

The Modi Government has pushed OBCs, Dalits and backward classes to the margins so that they get very less share in power and administration, he further alleged.

Gandhi claimed that after the Congress party made a demand for conducting a caste-wise census in the country, Modi changed his language saying that the poor are the only caste in the country.

If Congress comes to power, it will conduct a caste-wise census and will make efforts to give employment to the youth of the country, he asserted.

The Congress party will deliver on its promises, he assured.

“We will bring change both in Maharashtra and the country with people’s help,” added Gandhi.
