Czech Republic’s Krystyna crowned Miss World 2024



Czech Republic’s Krystyna Pyszkova won the Miss World 2024 title at a grand event in Mumbai. Reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska from Poland crowned her successor at the star-studded finale.

Academically sound, glamorous Pyszkova has dual degrees in Law and Business Administration, besides working as a model. She established the Krystyna Pyszko Foundation and remains actively involved in its initiatives, according to the Miss World website.

After Pyszkova, Miss Lebanon Yasmina Zaytoun was named the first runner-up. India, which hosted the event after 28 years, was represented by 22-year-old Sini Shetty. Mumbai-born Shetty, who was crowned Femina Miss India World in 2022, was unable to make it to the top four of the contest.

 Pyszková was born in Třinec and educated at Gymnázium Třinec. She grew up in the nearby village of Návsí, as a Silesian Goral member of the Polish minority located in Trans-Olza. Pyszková later relocated to Prague to further her education She studied law at Chales University in Prague and management at MCI Management Center Innsbruck in Innsbruck.

Pyszková saw the light of the day on January 19, 1999, and as an adult took to modelling like fish to water. She is a beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss World 2024 recently. Her previous accomplishments were Miss Czech Republic 2022, and is the second woman representing the Czech Republic to win Miss World after Taťána Kuchařová who was crowned Miss World in 2006.

There were 114 contestants from all over the world, after the initial competition, 40 were left in the fray. Later, the field was slashed to top12 and then top eight, at which point the contestants participated in the classic Q&A round, addressing topics discussed at the most recent G20 Summit. Asked to shed light on an issue impacting women’s health care specifically, Pyszková, a 23-year-old law student and model, spoke about removing the stigma and shame surrounding menstruation, saying that “being a woman is a gift” and that periods should not be a taboo subject.

Finally, four contestants were left to “pitch their purpose” (or philanthropic platform) to a trio of business moguls from “Shark Tank India.” Each of these four finalists represented a different region of the world: Africa, the Americas and Caribbean, Asia and Oceania and Europe. Pyszková’s victory came over these three runners-up – Yasmina Zeytoun of Lebanon, Aché Abrahams of Trinidad and Tobago and Lesego Chombo of Botswana. (These women, along with Jessica Gagen of England, are considered the pageant’s “continental winners”). Finally, the curtain came down on the dazzling pageant with lot of fanfare.
