The convincing 78 run victory by five-time winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK) over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday night saw several milestones being achieved that included iconic M S Dhoni becoming the first player in T-20 to be involved in 150 IPL wins and 50 wins at Chepauk for the home team, the quickest thus far.
According to a release by CSK in its website on Monday, with this victory, the CSK moved to third place in the points table.
There were also some milestones that some of our Super Kings ticked along the way. It said Dhoni becomes first player to be involved in 150 IPL wins. CSK’s win over SRH was a special one for Dhoni. The legendary cricketer became the first ever player to be involved in 150 wins in the IPL.
Super King Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma are jointly placed at the second spot, having been involved in 133 wins each in the IPL.
It was also Daryl Mitchell’s day out on the field. He was outstanding pouching as many as five catches in the game and in the process, equalled Afghanistan star and Mumbai Indians player Mohammad Nabi for the most catches taken in an IPL game in history.
Mitchell also completed 100 catches in T20 cricket in the game as well.
CSK become quickest IPL team to notch up 50 wins at home, it said.
Chepauk has been a fortress for the Super Kings in T20s. The 78-run victory over SRH was CSK’s 50th T20 win at Chepauk (49 IPL wins and one CLT20 win).
The Super Kings are the quickest team to notch up 50 T20 wins at home.
Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders are the other two teams with 50 or more wins at home in T20 cricket.
