Dilip pips TN’s Varun 4-3 in 6-red snooker

Chennai, Nov 3:

Yunis Nazir (J&K) scored an upset victory over former IBSF world snooker semi finalist Manan Chandra (PSPB) 4-1 in the 6-red snooker qualifying of the 90th National Billiards & Snooker Championships 2023 at the Nehru Indoor Stadium here on Saturday.

Chandra, who recorded an impressive break of 70 in his opening round win on Friday, remains in the fray to qualify as the format is a double elimination knockout and he has another round.

Among other matches, Dilip Kumar (RSPB) pipped Tamil Nadu’s Varun Kumar 4-3 in a thriller, while Pushpinder Singh (RSPB) beat Tushar Sahay (Guj) 4-1.

Ace cueist Pankaj Advani, who won a record 26th IBSF world title in Doha last month, is to reach the city on Sunday and will begin his 6-Red campaign on Monday, the organisers said.
