Eid-ul-Fitr is a time of joy, gratitude, and charity, as Muslims across the globe end their month-long fast by offering special namaz, exchanging gifts and helping the needy. The first Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated on March 27 624 AD or the second of Islamic Hijri calendar. It was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who declared Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Zuha as the community’s two festivals. During the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, it is mandatory for every Muslim male, female, young or old or new born to give alms also known as Sadaqatul Fitr  before proceeding to perform Eid-ul-Fitr special prayers. The amount varies every year. This year, the Sadaqatul Fitr has been fixed as Rs 150. Everyone in the family is bound to give away this amount.
