I.N.D.I.A. bloc to name Kharge as chairman

New Delhi, Jan 14:

Leaders of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance on Saturday agreed upon the name of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge as the chairman of the bloc but it has not been officially announced yet.

The name of Kharge as chairman of the alliance was proposedby Janata Dal (U) president Nitish Kumar and said that the largest constituent party, Congress, should lead the alliance.

In the meeting, which was held virtually, a proposal was also made to make the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as the convenor, to which the leaders of all the parties agreed, but Nitish Kumar refused to take the responsibility of becoming the convenor.

There was also discussion regarding distribution of seats. It may be mentioned that the national alliance committee of the Congress is continuously holding meetings with various constituent parties regarding seat sharing and till now discussions on seat sharing were held for Maharashtra, Bihar, Punjab and Delhi but no final decision has been taken in this regard.

In an important development on Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party Convenor Arvind Kejriwal reached Kharge’s residence to meet him.

Kejriwal, who was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP, met Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the Congress president’s residence for discussion regarding seat distribution.

The Congress committee has already held two rounds of meetings with AAP on seat distribution issues in Delhi. But Saturday’s meeting of Kejriwal, Kharge and Gandhi is being considered important.

Meanwhile, Congress president said the alliance meeting was fruitful and seat sharing talks was progressing in a positive way.

On X, Mallikarjun Kharge wrote, “Leaders of I.N.D.I.A. coordination commitee today met online and had a fruitful discussion on the alliance. Everyone is happy that the seat sharing talks are progressing in a positive way. We also discussed about joint programs in the coming days by INDIA Parties. I, along with @RahulGandhi ji invited all INDIA Parties to join ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ at their convenience and use the opportunity to raise the social, political and economic issues plaguing common people of this country.
