Iran beefs up Navy with state-of-art equipment

Tehran, Dec 25:

The Iranian Navy has added to its fleet two new domestic cruise missiles – Talayieh and Nasir – and advanced helicopters equipped for the first time with reconnaissance and electronic warfare systems, Shahram Irani, commander of the Iranian Navy, said on Sunday.

“Today, on the beautiful beaches of Makran and Konarak, we are witnessing the addition [to the arsenal] and presentation of the latest achievements of Iran’s strategic navy in the field of long-range missile systems and unmanned systems related to various areas, including reconnaissance, destruction and electronic warfare,” Irani was quoted by the ISNA news agency as saying at a solemn ceremony.

The Talayieh missile system with a range of over 1,000 kilometers (621.3 miles) is capable of identifying new targets throughout its flight, while the Nasir naval cruise missile with a range of over 100 kilometers also has great potential of eliminating designated targets, the navy official said.

The Iranian Navy has also received an anchor tug to its arsenal, Irani reportedly added.
