Kejriwal accused of receiving from Khalistani outfit

New Delhi, May 7:

Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena on Monday recommended NIA probe against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for allegedly receiving political funding from the banned extremist Khalistani organisation ‘Sikhs for Justice’.

In a letter to Home Secretary, Saxena referred to a complaint alleging that the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP had received $ 16 million in funds from the extremist Khalistani groups between 2014-2022.

“The complaint also alleged that meeting occurred in 2014 between Kejriwal and pro-Khalistani Sikhs. The AAP chief purportedly promised to facilitate the release of Devendra Pal Bhullar in return for substantial backing from Khalistani factions to AAP,” the LG said in letter.

The LG received a complaint from National General Secretary of the World Hindu Federation India along with printout of posts on X made by Dr Manish Kumar Raizada former worker of the Aam Aadmi Party.

Mentioning that since the allegations were made against the sitting CM and related alleged funding of a political party from a terrorist organisation which is already banned in India, the LG said, “The electronic evidences adduced by the complainant requires investigation including forensic examination.” Saxena further said, “The Ministry of Home Affairs may consider referring the matter to the National Investigation Agency for conducting a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, criticising Delhi Lieutenant Governor Saxena for recommending NIA probe against Kejriwal over alleged funding from banned Khalistani extremist outfits, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Leader Saurabh Bhardwaj asserted on Monday that LG is desperately trying to make headlines amid elections.

In a social media post on X, Bhardwaj said, “LG Saab is desperately trying to make headlines during election season. This is a complete misuse of constitutional office of LG.” The PIL demanding a high-level investigation in same matter was dismissed by HC two years back, he said.

The Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla rejected the plea filed by Jagdish Sharma, stating that it is “completely frivolous’, Bhardwaj stated.

Bhardwaj further alleged, “LG Saab has earlier asked for CBI investigation into complaint by person like Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who is in jail for duping and cheating people with crores of rupees through his deception and manipulation.
