Lakshya fights back to oust Anders in All England

Birmingham, Mar 15:

Showcasing his resilience and determination, Indian star shuttler Lakshya Sen clinched a remarkable victory against world no. 3 Anders Antonsen in the All England Championships quarterfinals here on Thursday.

Despite trailing 2-8 in the decider, Sen fought back and secured a hard-fought triumph over the three-time World Championships medalist and booked a spot in the quarterfinals of the championships.

However, P.V. Sindhu faced disappointment in the women’s singles second round as she succumbed to errors, leading to her elimination from the tournament.

Despite showing glimpses of her prowess, Sindhu was unable to contain her mistakes against world No. 1 An Se Young of Korea, marking her seventh consecutive loss to the formidable opponent with the scoreline reading 19-21, 11-21.

Sen’s exceptional form and determination were evident throughout the match against Antonsen, where he took control of the first game and eventually prevailed in a closely contested encounter.

In contrast, Sindhu faced an uphill battle against Young, who demonstrated superior tactics and shot selection, ultimately securing her victory.
