LS Polls: DMK signs pact, allots 9 TN, 1 Pondy seat to Congress, MDMK gets Tirchy seat

The ruling DMK and Congress on Monday signed the pact for finalising constituencies for the Parliamentary polls. Alliance leader DMK has allotted nine seats in Tamil Nadu and the lone. Puducherry seat to the Congress.

The DMK party alloted Trichy seat to Vaiko’s MDMK. Accordingly, Vaiko’s MDMK will now stand in Tiruchirappalli as parliamentary seat in the DMK alliance.

It is to be noted, that the Congress gave up Trichy, along with Arani & Theni for Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai & Tirunelveli. Further details awaited

Chief Minister M K Stalin came to Anna Arivalayam to formalise agreement with his congress state counterpart K Selvaperunthagai. Selvaperunthagai and senior state Congress leaders EVKS Elangovan have met Chief Minister at Arivalayam

The seats given to Congress are Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Sivagangai, Tirunelveli, Krishnagiri, Karur, Virudhunagar, Kanyakumari and Puducherry-UT.

Congress has been allocated Cuddalore and Mayiladuthurai instead of Arani & Trichy seats.

Besides retaining Karur & Sivagangai seats, Congress has managed to secure Tirunelveli, a sitting seat of the DMK, this time.

The DMK leadership managed to convince the Congress high command to retain the same number of seats it contested in 2019 LS polls. The signing of the pact was done in the presence of chief minister M K Stalin and AICC general secretaries K C Venugopal, Mukul Wasnik, and Tamil Nadu in charge, Ajoy Kumar at DMK headquarters. “We will win with a huge margin in all 40 seats,” TNCC chief K Selvaperunthagai told reporters later, waving the copy of the agreement signed with DMK.
