Lucknow prevail by 33 runs over Gujarat in IPL

Lucknow, Apr 7:

Lucknow Super Giants secured a 33-run victory over Gujarat Titans at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.

This win marked their third consecutive victory of the IPL 2024 season, propelling them to the third position in the points table with six points from four matches.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Lucknow posted a competitive total of 163/5 in 20 overs, with Marcus Stoinis playing a pivotal role with his 58 runs.

Despite a slow start and early dismissals, KL Rahul and Stoinis stabilised the innings with a crucial partnership. Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni contributed valuable runs towards the end.

In response, Gujarat Titans began strongly with openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan scoring freely. However, Lucknow bowlers fought back, led by Yash Thakur’s exceptional performance with five wickets for 30 runs.

Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi also made significant contributions with the ball. Despite a late resistance from Rahul Tewatia, Gujarat were bowled out for 130 in 18.5 overs.

Lucknow’s victory was significant as it marked their first-ever win over Gujarat Titans in the IPL. The team’s next challenge will be against Delhi Capitals, led by Rishabh Pant, in their upcoming match on Friday.
