New Amrit Bharat train with push-pull technology

New Delhi, Dec 26:
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the inaugural Amrit Bharat train, featuring innovative
push-pull technology, will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ayodhya soon. During his
inspection of the coaches and locomotive at New Delhi station, Vaishnaw highlighted the safety benefits
and passenger-centric features incorporated in the new train.
The push-pull technology, according to Vaishnaw, involves having two engines—one at the front and
another at the rear. While the front engine pulls the train, the rear engine simultaneously pushes it,
enabling improved acceleration and deceleration. This design, he explained, results in significant time
savings at bridges, curves, and other speed-restricted sections, making the journey more efficient.
Amrit Bharat Express has saffron-grey colour scheme. Vaishnaw commended Indian engineers for
implementing both distributed power technology and push-pull technology in Indian Railways. He
emphasised the importance of the Amrit Bharat train’s special coupler, called a semi-permanent coupler,
which eliminates the jerking effect experienced by passengers during starts and stops.
