Not a regular election, democratic crusade: Stalin

Chennai, Mar 22:

A day before embarking on his 20-day election campaign, Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin wrote a letter to party cadre on Thursday, in which he said the upcoming Lok Sabha election, unlike the earlier ones, is not about who should be voted to power but about who should never rule the country.

In a letter Stalin said that this is not a regular election, a democratic crusade.

Stating that BJP leaders were reluctant to even utter the country’s name, Stalin said this itself is an initial victory for the INDIA bloc. He contrasted this “reluctance” with the rhetoric of BJP’s claims of a “new India” being born after the announcement of demonetisation which adversely affected the people.

Stalin termed the election a battleground to reclaim states’ rights, foster prosperity across India, safeguard constitutional federalism and combat fascist forces.
