Poll fever in Kerala

The election campaign for Lok Sabha Poll-2024 in Kerala will enter a high voltage pace, from Monday just ten days before the scheduled election on April 26,whentop national leaders of various political parties start campaigning in 20 parliamentary constituencies.

Top National leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AICC leader Rahul Gandhi, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, and CPI General Secretary D Raja, are scheduled to land jn Kerala for the second phase of election campaigning for their candidates from April 15.

However, the scorching heat across the State is likely to impact the presence of people in election meetings.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address two public meetings on Monday at Kattakada in Thiruvananthapuram to campaign forUnion Ministers Rajeev Chandrasekhar and V Muraleedharan,contesting from Thiruvananthapuram and Attingal parliamentary constituencies respectively. Later, he is scheduled to attend a public meeting at Thrissur. This is the sixth visit of Narendra Modi to Kerala after March 19 at Palakkad forelection campaign.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will attend a public meeting at Mattanur in Kannur, on April 17 to campaign in favour ofC Raghnuanth, who is contesting as an NDA candidate from Kannur Lok Sabha Constituency.

AICC leader, Rahul Gandhi, who was also an incumbent candidate of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) from Wayanad Lok Sabha Constituency will begin his election campaign at Sulthan Bathery, Mananthavady, Kalpetta on April 16. Rahul Gandhi will camp in Kerala for his four-day election campaign from April 15, he will attend his first election rally at Kozhikode on April 15. Later, he is scheduled to attend the election campaign at Kannur, Palakkad Kottayam, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, and Alappuzha from April 17 to 18.

Senior Congress leader and Karnataka Deputy Chief MinisterD K Sivakumar will campaign for UDF candidates at Thiruvananthapuram, Kannur, Vadakara, Kozhikode, and Malappuram on April 16.

CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury will start his election campaign for Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidates on April 16, as the first public meeting was scheduled for him at Kasaragod and Kannur on Tuesday, and Vadakara and Kozhikode on Wednesday, Palakkad and Alathur on April 18 and his election campaign will end in Kerala on April 21.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI(M) politburo members Prakash Karat, Brinda Karat, Tapan Sen, and Subhashini Ali, will hold election campaign rallies and public meetings from April 15 to 22.

CPI General Secretary D Raja will arrive in Kerala next week to attend the election campaign at Wayanad constituency, where his wife Annie Raja is contesting against Rahul Gandhi and BJP state President K Surendran, and to campaign at Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur constituencies
