Rajnath urges corporate sector to uplift nation

Mumbai, Dec 10:

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that the corporate sector should self-motivate to contribute for the upliftment of the country.

He was speaking on the occasion of the CSR Journal Excellence Awards distribution ceremony on Saturday evening in Mumbai which concluded at the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Social responsibility is different from paying any tax which is legally binding. When we pay any tax, the society is not connected with us, when many individuals help the welfare of the country, the society is connected with us, he said.

Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Amit Upadhyay of The CSR Journal Excellence, poet Kumar Vishwas, former Central Information Commissioner Uday Mahurkar and other dignitaries were present.

Singh said that man is a social animal. The bonds of interdependence cannot be broken. If you help a person in times of trouble, it doesn’t matter how much wealth the person is helping. So, it is seen which person helped immediately. There should be a sense of brotherhood and help in the society.

A society that helps each other takes the country forward and inspires others to come forward. For that, socially conscious people, especially individuals and organizations in the corporate sector, should be appreciated for their social contribution, he said.

Chief Minister Shinde said that, helping each other is our tradition. Charity is our culture. It is our duty and responsibility to work for society. Social organisations and companies are working with the government with selfless spirit in the social sector.

He asserted that the important contribution of a responsible organisation in social development is a matter of pride and appreciation, he added.
