Ram temple opening: Security beefed up along Nepal border

In the wake of the consecration ceremony of the idol of Lord Shri Ram to be in Ayodhya on January 22 strict surveillance will be maintained from the Indo-Nepal border to Ayodhya, a senior police officer said here on Wednesday.

While talking to the reporters, Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Gorakhpur zone K.S. Pratap Kumar said that necessary guidelines were issued during a meeting with all the police officers of Basti and Gonda district regarding the security arrangements regarding the consecration ceremony.

He said that strict security arrangements have been made on the Indo-Nepal border on the occasion. “I inspected the India-Nepal border and have given instructions to the police and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) officers that information should be collected about every person and their identity card should be checked. Preventive action should be taken against suspicious people,” he said.

The ADG said that directives have also been given to increase the vigil on the Indo-Nepal border. “Though the Indo-Nepal border is open but is being continuously monitored by the police and SSB. Customs department officials are also completely alert for security. Every vehicle passing through the border is being checked and its videography is also being done,” he said.

He said that in view of January 22, route diversion for big vehicles towards Ayodhya will be done for which a road map is being prepared for this and it will be implemented soon. In view of route diversion, special arrangements will be made for security. In view of January 22, surveillance will also be done through drones,” he said.

Kumar said that along with drone surveillance on the Indo-Nepal border, the CCTV cameras installed on the border will be kept fully active, for this necessary instructions have been given to the police and SSB officers.

He said that a checking campaign has been launched on all routes leading to Nepal and instructions have been given to check every incoming vehicle. “The police will be fully prepared for security on January 22 and cooperation of Revenue Department officials will also be sought,” he said.
