Religious fervour marks Divine Narayani Amma’s birthday

The hamlet of Malaikodi, near Vellore became a place of pilgrimage on May 8th, 1992. Since then, the day has gone down in history as Sri Sakthi Amma proclamation Day. It heralded the arrival of the avatar of Goddess Sri Narayani (trilogy of Durga, Lakshmi & Saraswati) with the purpose of leading humanity on the spiritual path, ameliorating poverty and uplifting the lives of the needy. The Divine Narayani was bestowed with extraordinary siddhis (miraculous powers) to provide solace, relieve pain and suffering of the masses.

The spiritual journey of Divine commenced in 1992 when Sri Sakthi Amma left the family home, in Vellore, to settle in the nearby rural village of Thirumalaikodi, at the foot of the Kailash Giri Hills. It was not long before Sri Sakthi Amma established Sri Narayani Peedam in the celestial settings.

There are two landmark celebrations in Thirumalaikodi, Narayani Jayanti on 3rd January annually and Proclamation Day on May 8. This years, Divine Narayani’s Jayanti became significant due to the distinguished presence of H.E. Sri Ram Nath ji Kovind, former, President, Republic of India. The other prominent guest was Sri CP Radhakrishnan, Governor, Jharkhand, P. P. Ramachandra Reddy, Forest Minister, Andhra Pradesh besides scores of seers from different sacred places in Tamil Nadu and innumerable devotees from home and abroad.

The 48th Divine Narayani Amma’s Jayanti was fully soaked in spiritual piquancy. The celebrity occasion had many highlights not witnessed before. There was an unusual avidity in the air. The effervescence of sacred yagam provided a heavenly setting to the proceedings. The eventful day saw the unprecedented rush of VIPs not only from New Delhi, even from Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand but also from adjoining states as well. The prominent sages from different sects along with VIPS from home and abroad provided a new meaning to the festivity.

The celebrations had showcased spirituality in totality. Actually, it was a spectacular spectacle to which the presence of wide range of devotees added further gleam to the festivities. The venue had a cosmic setting. It touched the devotional cord of the devotees.

The spacious venue was well-spruced up and decorated with myriads of flowers of different hues, providing spiritual fragrance to the ambience. The well-orchestrated yagam added ethereal aura to the celebration complex.

When Divine descended on the stage, the scribe saw it was not a walk. It was a graceful gliding on the stage. The arrival of Narayani Amma was heralded by the heaven-reaching sounds of nadaswaram and special vaathyams.

The yagam to propitiate various deities was aimed at the welfare of mankind and providing relief to the followers of the spiritual guru from their ache and agony.

The sacred blessings emanating from the Jayanti yagam was well-spelt in the prophetic words of the Divine. The trinity Goddess dwelt on bhakthi and love as the main theme of the significant day and said, “The community benefits by the goodwill of the spirituality and from the contribution of the people.” The meaningful message was that following dharma would usher peace, prosperity, and happiness in society. Elaborating further, Amma advocated, “People should be involved in such works and projects that will appeal to the Lord. It will ultimately provide benefit and solace to the community at large.”

C.P. Radhakrishnan, Governor, Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh, Forest Minister P. Ramachandra Reddy also addressed the devotees from home and abroad. The duo eulogised the efforts of the Divine in creating not only a religious institution but a holistic entity to cater to the welfare of the community not in and around the sanctum sanctorum but even in far and wide areas. The entire ceremony and rituals were conducted with perfection and silken smoothness under the supervision of trustee Dr. Suresh M Babu while Dr. Balaji Nandagopal, a trustee and Director, Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre performed the malar abhishegam during the celebrations to mark the 48th birth anniversary of the divine.
