Three dies as ceiling collapse at Chennai’s Sekhmet Club

Chennai, Mar 29:

Three migrant workers were killed after a portion of the roof on the first floor of the Sekhmet pub, in the up-market area at Alwarpet, collapsed on Thursday evening. One more victim was rescued and was rushed to the government Royapettah Hospital for treatment. He was declared dead by the doctors after examining him.

At 7 p.m., when the police control room received a message from the staff, senior police officials rushed rescue teams and Fire and Rescue Services personnel to the spot.

A team of commando force personnel from the Marutham complex, and a team of National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) personnel from their Adyar office were also engaged in the rescue mission.

They managed to retrieve three persons caught under the debris and sent them to Government Royapettah Hospital where they were declared brought dead.
