TN beat Himachal by 78 runs in visually impaired cricket

Andhra Pradesh secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Haryana, while Tamil Nadu dominated against Himachal with a commanding 78-run win at the JK Pavilion Stadium on Thursday in Group A in the ongoing 6th edition of Nagesh Trophy – Men’s National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Visually Impaired 2023-24.

The Kota-leg (Group A) kicked off on Monday, and Andhra Pradesh currently leads the points table. This marks the final leg of the League stage in the Men’s National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind 2023-24.

In the first match on Thursday, Andhra Pradesh defeated Haryana by six wickets in Kota. Batting first Haryana smashed 191/4 in 20 overs but Andhra Pradesh chased down the target with 16 balls to spare. Wicket-keeper batter D Venkateswara Rao (106) from Andhra Pradesh smashed a sensational century. He was named as the Player of the Match.

In the second match, Tamil Nadu posted a challenging total of 201 runs in 20 overs against Himachal and then restricted them to 123/10, securing a convincing 78-run victory. Tamil Nadu’s skipper, Sarathkumar, played a stellar innings, scoring 102 runs in 71 balls, and was named the Player of the Match.

The upcoming Day 5 will witness Rajasthan facing Haryana, and Himachal clashing with Andhra Pradesh, concluding the Kota-leg at the JK Pavilion Stadium on Friday.

The ongoing 6th edition of Nagesh Trophy began on November 23 with the four teams of Group E battling out at the University of Jammu. The tournament will run till February 2, 2024 and the League stage will be played till December 29, 2023.

Nagesh Trophy was launched in the memory of late S.P. Nagesh, founder president, Cricket Association for the Visually Impaired in India and foundertTrustee, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled. The launch of the tournament brought together the entire blind cricket community into one huge platform, by creating a milestone in the blind cricket history.
