Water scarcity forces to stop new water connections in Himachal

Shimla , Apr 13:

The Jal Shakti Department has imposed a complete ban on the granting of new water connections to end water shortage in Himachal Pradesh in the summer season, said an official spokesman.

With the onset of summer, a drinking water crisis has also started. Therefore, a ban has been imposed on issuing new water connections in the state during the summer. This ban will continue till the monsoon season begins.

As soon as the water level in the drinking water schemes rises with the arrival of the rainy season, the decision to ban new water connections will be withdrawn. In Himachal, drinking water cannot be used even for construction and related works.

This time the effect of less than normal rainfall in the winter season in Himachal has started becoming visible in the second week of April itself.

The water level in natural water sources including rivers and streams in the state has started decreasing as a result it has started affecting drinking water schemes also. In such a situation, the Jal Shakti Department has taken strict steps to ensure that people do not have to face the problem of drinking water crisis during the summer season.
